PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Md. Ikhtiar Uddin Bhuiyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy under a fully funded scholarship from the Government of Thailand. Mr. Bhuiyan joined Jahangirnagar University in 2016 as a lecturer and has since demonstrated exceptional dedication to teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
Before his academic career, Mr. Bhuiyan served in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) starting in 2014. Prior to his tenure in BCS, he held various positions, including serving as a Customs Officer in the Customs Department, a Protocol Officer in the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), and a Senior Officer at the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh. In 2018, he pursued an advanced Master’s degree in Public Policy at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan, successfully completing the program in 2019.
Mr. Bhuiyan's research focuses on international relations, with a particular emphasis on Southeast Asian politics, public service delivery systems in Bangladesh, and public policy. His scholarly contributions have been published in esteemed journals such as Springer Nature, IGI Global (USA), USBED Journal (Turkey), The Jahangirnagar Review, CENRAPS Journal of Social Science, and Asian Studies Journal.
In addition to his academic commitments, Mr. Bhuiyan actively engages in advisory and leadership roles. He has served as the Students’ Welfare Advisor in the Department of Government and Politics for three years and currently acts as the Advisor for the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) YES Group at Jahangirnagar University. Furthermore, he is an advisor to the Youth Consumers Forum, where he plays a pivotal role in combatting food adulteration.
Mr. Bhuiyan is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the International Political Science Association (IPSA), the China-Bangladesh Mutual Friendship Trade Center Limited, and the Japanese Universities Alumni Association of Bangladesh (JUAAB). His commitment to addressing social challenges is evident through his extensive research and publication record.
